COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science with a Major in Applied Mathematics and Statistics requires a total of 120 credit hours and provides a strong blend of mathematical theory and statistical application. Students complete 63 credit hours in major requirements, including foundational courses such as MATH 110, 111, 122, 213, 217, and 221, along with advanced mathematics courses like MATH 312 and MATH 381. The program places significant emphasis on statistics, requiring courses such as STAT 160 or 200, STAT 251 or MATH 251, STAT 252, STAT 354, and multiple upper-level STAT courses at the 300 and 400 levels. Students also take several advanced courses in mathematics or statistics, including at least one 400-level course, ensuring depth in their area of study. Additional requirements include a course in computer science or statistics (CS 110, CS 165, or STAT 165) and either CS 261 or MATH 261 to strengthen computational skills. A minimum major GPA of 65 percent is required. Beyond the major, students complete general education courses including ENGL 100 and ENGL 110, along with electives in Arts, Natural Sciences, and open areas. To graduate, students must maintain a minimum program GPA of 65 percent and an overall undergraduate GPA of 60 percent.
