COURSE CURRICULUM

The Four-Year Elementary Bachelor of Education NSITEP program is a 120-credit-hour degree designed to prepare future teachers to work in elementary and Indigenous education settings in northern Saskatchewan. In Year 1, students build foundational knowledge through courses in education, Indigenous studies, language, science, mathematics, and the arts, including ECS 101 and 102, INDG 100, ENGL 100, CREE 100, MATH 101, BIOL 140, and introductory arts courses such as KACT 139 and THTR 100. In Year 2, students begin more focused education training with courses such as ECS 203, ECE 200, ELNG 200, EAE 201, ERDG 310, and Indigenous-focused courses like INDG 221, 235, 258, and JS 351, along with electives and foundational teaching methods. Year 3 includes pre-internship preparation and advanced education studies, including ECS 305, ECS 401, ECS 495, EPSY 322 or 400, ECCU 400, and subject-area methods courses such as ELNG 310, EMTH 310, ESST 310, and EPE 310. In Year 4, students complete a major teaching internship (EFLD 405) alongside final coursework such as ECS 310 or EDTC 300 and EHE 310. The program emphasizes culturally responsive teaching, practical classroom experience, and strong academic preparation for teaching in elementary and Indigenous communities.
