COURSE CURRICULUM

The Therapeutic Recreation major at the University of Regina is structured to provide students with a strong foundation in health, psychology, and recreation-based therapy through a focused set of core courses totaling 45 credit hours. The program begins with introductory and supporting courses such as KIN 162, SRS 110, SRS 115, SRS 220, and SRS 231, which build fundamental knowledge of human movement, leisure, and recreation studies. Students also take psychology and health-related options like HS 316 or PSYC 333, and KIN 180 or PSYC 210, to understand human behavior, development, and well-being. The core therapeutic recreation component includes specialized courses such as THRC 200, THRC 245, THRC 300, THRC 305, and THRC 343, where students learn assessment techniques, program planning, and intervention strategies using recreation as therapy. Advanced learning is achieved through THRC 447 and a selection of upper-level electives like THRC 240, THRC 348, or THRC 346, allowing students to explore specific areas of interest within the field.
