COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Sport and Recreation Studies at the University of Regina is a 120-credit-hour program that combines core academic learning, sport science, and business-oriented courses to prepare students for careers in sport, recreation, and leisure industries. The program begins with foundational courses such as KHSR 100 and KHSR 150, along with communication and introductory studies in English or academic writing. Students study key areas including sport and recreation theory, human movement, health, ethics, and social influences through courses like KHSR 110, KHSR 130, KHSR 215 or 216, KHSR 290, and related philosophy or sociology options. Quantitative and analytical skills are developed through statistics courses such as STAT 100 or STAT 160. Higher-level learning includes KHSR 400 and KHSR 405 fieldwork components that provide practical, real-world experience in sport and recreation settings. The program also includes a structured Sport and Recreation Management major, which integrates courses like SRS 110, SRS 220, SRM 105, SRM 254, SRM 330, SRM 340, SRM 400, SRM 440, and supporting business courses such as ECON 100, BUS 210, BUS 250, BUS 260, and BUS 285. Students also complete an additional SRM elective to strengthen specialization. Overall, the curriculum blends theory, management, leadership, and hands-on field experience, preparing graduates for careers in sport organizations, recreation agencies, event planning, fitness industries, and community sport development.
