COURSE CURRICULUM

Bachelor of Music (BMus) program is a structured integrated degree designed to develop both advanced musical skills and professional teaching abilities over multiple terms. In the early terms, students complete foundational courses such as ECS 101 and ECS 102, MAP 001, ENGL 100, MUHI 202 and 203, MUTH 211, 212, 221, and 222, along with applied music lessons and core ensemble participation. As the program progresses into Terms 3 and 4, students study intermediate and advanced music theory, analysis, and performance through courses like MUTH 321, MUTQ 283 and 288, MUPE 342, MU 399 recital work, and additional ensemble experience. Indigenous studies (INDG 100) and pedagogy-related electives such as CTCH or MUPE courses are also included. In Terms 5 and 6, students continue applied lessons, ensembles, and advanced coursework such as MU 204 or 319, MUTQ 285, 286, and 287, MUPE 283, and a major recital course (MUxx 339), while also beginning their teaching minor. The final terms include education-focused courses such as ECS 203, 305, 401, EPSY 400, EMUS 350, 366, and 377, ECCU 400, and additional minor coursework. Overall, the program combines performance, theory, education, and practical training for careers in music education.
