COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science program at the University of Regina requires students to complete a structured set of courses after admission, totaling 60 credit hours at the university level. The program includes foundational courses in English, psychology, chemistry, mathematics, biology, and statistics to build essential academic and scientific skills. Required courses include ENGL 100 and ENGL 110 for communication skills, PSYC 101 or 102 for an introduction to psychology, CHEM 140 for chemistry fundamentals, MATH 110 for mathematical foundations, and STAT 160 for introductory statistics. Students also take CS 110 to develop basic computer science skills, along with BIOL 205, BIOL 288, and BIOL 341 or a higher-level statistics course to strengthen biological and analytical knowledge. Additional specialized courses include BIOC 220, BIOC 221, and BIOC 330, which focus on biochemistry, as well as INHS 100, BUS 205, and BUS 260 to provide interdisciplinary knowledge in health, management, and communication. Students must also complete PHIL 273 or PHIL 276 to engage with ethics and critical thinking, along with three elective courses to broaden their academic experience. A minimum program GPA of 65 percent is required to ensure academic success and readiness for professional practice in medical laboratory science.
