COURSE CURRICULUM

The Secondary Bachelor of Indigenous Education After Degree (BIEAD) at the First Nations University of Canada is a 60-credit-hour program designed for students who already hold a university degree and want to become certified high school teachers. Admission requires completion of EIND 100 as a foundational course. The program is structured over multiple terms and combines academic coursework, Indigenous education content, and practical teaching preparation. In the first terms, students take core courses such as EIND 200, EIND 350, and EPSY 350, along with selected major curriculum and instructional courses, a minor curriculum course, and non-education electives. Students also choose from a range of Indigenous Studies-related options such as INDG 201, 208, 210, 215, 216, 218, 219, 221, or 222, ensuring exposure to Indigenous knowledge systems and perspectives. In later terms, students progress into advanced education courses including ED 350, EIEA 355, EIND 305, EPSY 322, and JS 351. A key component of the program is the field experience requirement (EFLD 051), which provides practical classroom exposure and professional development. Overall, the program prepares graduates to become culturally responsive secondary educators by combining theory, Indigenous perspectives, and hands-on teaching experience in a condensed and focused degree pathway.
