COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Health Studies (BHS) at the University of Regina is a 120-credit-hour interdisciplinary program designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of health, wellness, and healthcare systems, combining academic coursework with practical field experience. The program includes 105 credit hours of courses and 15 credit hours of fieldwork. Section A focuses on foundational learning, including ENGL 100, Indigenous-focused courses, biology or kinesiology options, psychology, sociology or anthropology, and KIN 170, ensuring a broad understanding of human health and society. Section B emphasizes research methods, requiring statistics and methodology courses along with advanced options in economics, Indigenous studies, or social research. Section C highlights Indigenous health through courses such as INHS 100, 101, 200, 210, and 300, reflecting the importance of culturally informed healthcare. Section D explores health and society through courses in sociology, philosophy, history, and economics, while Section E includes core Health Studies courses (HS 200, 300, 301, and 400). A key feature is Section F, which provides hands-on experience through HS 448 and HS 450 field placements. Section G allows students to choose approved electives in health-related disciplines, and Section H includes open electives for flexibility. Additional non-credit requirements include a pre-fieldwork seminar and computer skills. Overall, the program prepares graduates for careers in healthcare, community health, and policy development.
