COURSE CURRICULUM

Visual Arts program at the University of Regina take a diverse range of studio and theory-based courses that develop both technical skills and critical understanding of art. Courses like ART 325 focus on Prairie Landscape Photography, where students explore the cultural and environmental significance of landscapes, particularly examining how human activity shapes the land. In ART 342, Expressive Painting, students experiment with brushwork, colour, and composition to create both figurative and abstract works while engaging in critiques and discussions of historical and contemporary artists. ART 357 introduces Bronze Casting, teaching traditional sculptural techniques such as mold-making, kiln firing, and metal casting, while ART 363 emphasizes Kiln Firing and Surfaces, helping students understand glazing, firing processes, and surface treatments in ceramics. In printmaking, ART 372, Lines and Letters, explores advanced techniques like intaglio and letterpress, encouraging conceptual and aesthetic experimentation.
