COURSE CURRICULUM

The Film Production program at the University of Regina offers a range of hands-on and theoretical courses designed to develop strong technical, creative, and storytelling skills for careers in the film and television industry. Students begin with foundational training in courses such as FILM 201 (Production 1), which introduces practical techniques in dramatic film production, and FILM 209 (Technical Fundamentals), which covers essential skills in camera operation, lighting, lenses, audio recording, and editing. FILM 210 (Screenwriting) helps students learn the basics of writing for the screen, including story structure and character development. As students advance, they explore more specialized areas such as FILM 305 (Cinematography), which focuses on visual storytelling through lighting and camera techniques, and FILM 307 (Advanced Audio Production), which examines sound design and its creative role in film. FILM 312 (Advanced Digital Effects) provides training in post-production tools such as Adobe Photoshop, After Effects, and Premiere Pro for creating visual effects and digital enhancements. At an advanced level, FILM 411 (Directing the Dramatic Film) focuses on the director’s role, emphasizing collaboration with actors, crew, and script development.
