COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Applied Science in Software Systems Engineering (SSE) at the University of Regina is a structured, professionally oriented program that prepares students to design, build, and manage complex software systems across their full life cycle. The curriculum is spread over multiple terms and combines foundational engineering, mathematics, and computing courses with advanced software engineering topics and applied electives. In the first year, students study core sciences and engineering basics such as CHEM 104, PHYS 109, MATH 110, MATH 122, ENGG 100, ENGG 123, ENGL 100, and introductory computer science courses like CS 110. The second and third stages introduce more specialized technical knowledge including CS 115, CS 210, ENSE 271, ENSE 281, ENEL 280, ENEL 282, ENEL 384, ENEV 223, STAT 289, and MATH 213. Mid-program courses focus on software design, systems engineering principles, and development practices through courses like ENSE 311, ENSE 352, ENSE 353, ENSE 354, ENSE 370, and ENSE 350. Students also complete supporting mathematics such as MATH 217 and economics basics like ECON 201, along with approved electives to broaden their skills. In the final stages, advanced engineering and software integration courses such as ENGG 303, ENGG 401, ENSE 400, ENSE 472, and ENSE 477 prepare students for real-world software engineering challenges.
