COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts Honours in Psychology is a 120-credit-hour advanced program designed for students who want in-depth training in the scientific study of human behavior, cognition, and mental processes, with a strong emphasis on research and academic specialization. The program builds on the standard BA in Psychology and requires 57 credit hours in the major. Students begin with foundational courses such as PSYC 101, 102, 204, 210, 220, 230, 255, 270, and 305, which provide essential knowledge in core areas of psychology including development, social behavior, cognition, and research methods. At the advanced level, students complete PSYC 400AA and 400AB, along with PSYC 405 and PSYC 408, which focus on research training, advanced theory, and applied psychological analysis. In addition, students must complete one 400-level PSYC course and five additional 300- or 400-level PSYC courses to develop specialized expertise. The Arts Core Requirements are completed as in the standard BA Psychology program, ensuring a broad liberal arts foundation across humanities, social sciences, Indigenous studies, science, media, and language. Students also complete 36 credit hours of open electives, allowing flexibility to explore complementary disciplines. A minimum 75% major GPA and 70% overall PGPA and UGPA are required, reflecting the program’s high academic and research standards.
