COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts Honours in Political Science is a 120-credit-hour program designed for students seeking advanced and in-depth study of political systems, theories, and global issues. The program builds on the standard BA in Political Science but includes additional upper-level coursework and a stronger research focus. The honours major requires 54 credit hours in Political Science and related courses, beginning with foundational classes such as PSCI 100, 210, 220, 230, and 240, along with SOST 201 and SOST 203. Students then complete PSCI 400 and PSCI 401, which emphasize advanced political analysis and research methods. The program also requires four 300-level PSCI courses and three 400-level PSCI courses, ensuring a high level of specialization and academic depth. In addition, students complete either two PSCI courses or a combination of one PSCI course and PPE 200 to support interdisciplinary understanding. The Arts Core Requirements are completed as outlined in the standard BA Political Science program, providing a broad liberal arts foundation across humanities, social sciences, Indigenous studies, science, media, and language. Students also complete 42 credit hours of open electives, allowing flexibility to explore other disciplines. A minimum 75% major GPA and 70% program GPA are required, reflecting the program’s academic rigor and focus on research excellence.
