COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts in Women’s and Gender Studies at the University of Regina is a 120-credit-hour program that provides an interdisciplinary understanding of gender, equality, and social justice. The major requires 36 credit hours, beginning with foundational courses such as WGST 100, WGST 200, and WGST 305, which introduce key concepts, feminist theories, and analytical approaches. Students also complete a media, art, and performance-related WGST or approved MAP course, along with five additional WGST or approved elective courses to broaden their knowledge. To ensure advanced learning, the program includes three upper-level courses at the 300 or 400 level, allowing students to explore specialized topics in greater depth. In addition to major requirements, students fulfill 27 credit hours of Arts core requirements, including courses in writing, Indigenous studies, humanities, social sciences, science, and language, ensuring a well-rounded academic experience. The program also offers significant flexibility with 57 credit hours of open electives, enabling students to pursue minors or explore other academic interests. This structure allows students to tailor their degree while developing strong critical thinking, research, and communication skills, preparing them for careers in advocacy, education, policy, social services, and community development.
