COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts in Police Studies is a 120-credit-hour program that combines foundational arts education with specialized criminology and policing studies to prepare students for careers in law enforcement, justice, and community safety. The program begins with Arts Core Requirements, including ENGL 100, INDG 100, courses in logical reasoning, humanities, social sciences, Indigenous knowledge, media and arts, science, and an additional language, ensuring a broad interdisciplinary foundation. Students then complete Criminology Core Requirements such as CRIM 090, 101, 221, 230, and 241, which introduce key concepts in crime, justice systems, and policing. Advanced required courses include CRIM 289, 318, 319, 350, 370, and CRIM 276 or PHIL 276, along with additional upper-level criminology courses like CRIM 304 or 305, 313, 316, 322 or 323, 325, 335, 421, and 423. Students also complete open electives to broaden their academic experience. In the final stage, students choose one of three pathways: the Professional Officer Program, which includes police college training and practicum experience; the Professional Practicum/Analyst Program, which emphasizes applied field and analytical training through courses like CRIM 190, 290, 390, and 490; or the Academic Program, which focuses on additional criminology coursework and electives. A minimum 65% major GPA is required for graduation.
