COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy is a 120-credit-hour degree that provides students with a strong foundation in critical thinking, logic, ethics, and the history of philosophical thought. The major requires 36 credit hours in Philosophy, beginning with introductory courses such as PHIL 100 and PHIL 150. Students then complete a range of 200-level courses across three core areas: history of philosophy (three courses), problems of philosophy (two courses), and value theory (two courses), ensuring a balanced understanding of key philosophical traditions and questions. At the senior level, students must complete at least one 300- or 400-level course in each of these three areas, with at least one course at the 400 level to ensure advanced study. The program also includes Arts Core Requirements, such as ENGL 100, INDG 100, courses in logic or numerical reasoning, humanities, social sciences, Indigenous knowledge, media or arts, science, and language study. Students also complete a wide range of open electives, allowing flexibility to explore other disciplines. A minimum major GPA of 65% and an overall PGPA and UGPA of 60% are required for graduation. Overall, the program develops analytical reasoning, argumentation skills, and a deep understanding of human thought and values.
