COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts in Indigenous Studies at the University of Regina requires a minimum of 45 credit hours in Indigenous Studies courses as part of a 120-credit-hour undergraduate degree. The program begins with foundational courses such as INDG 100 Introductory to Indigenous Studies and INDG 201, which introduce students to key concepts, histories, and perspectives of Indigenous peoples. Students then build depth by selecting from a range of intermediate courses, including INDG 208, 210, 215, 216, 218, 219, 221, and 222, as well as specialized options like INDG 224 or 225, INDG 228 or 229, and INDG 280, 281, or 282. The program requires completion of six additional Indigenous Studies courses at the 200 level or above, ensuring broad exposure to advanced topics. Students also complete two 300-level courses and one 400-level course, allowing for more focused and critical engagement with Indigenous issues, research, and scholarship. Alongside the major, students complete Arts core requirements such as ENGL 100, logic or quantitative reasoning, humanities, social sciences, Indigenous knowledge, media or arts, science, and language courses. The program emphasizes critical thinking, cultural understanding, and research skills while supporting flexible elective choices. Overall, it provides a strong interdisciplinary foundation for careers in education, public service, policy, and community work.
