COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Business Studies (BBST) program requires students to complete a set of core courses designed to build essential business knowledge and skills, typically taken over two years at UPEI. In the first year, students are recommended to take foundational courses such as Marketing, Organizational Behaviour, Business Presentations and Communications, Introduction to Management Science, Research and Evidence-Based Management, Business Law Part I, Introduction to Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting (except for students with a college diploma in Accounting), Writing Studies, and Indigenous Teachings. The second year focuses on advanced business topics, including Corporate Finance, Human Resource Management, Integrated Cases in Corporate Finance or Personal Finance, Integrated Cases in Marketing, Operations Management, Entrepreneurship and New Ventures, Strategic Management, and Developing Management Skills. Depending on their previous college diploma, students must also complete elective courses: those with an accounting diploma must take four electives in addition to the 16 required courses, while students with diplomas in Business or Retail Management must take two electives alongside 18 required courses. This curriculum structure ensures that students build a strong foundation in both theoretical and practical aspects of business, tailored to their prior education, preparing them for diverse career opportunities or further study in the business field.
