COURSE CURRICULUM

Economics, students must complete fifty-four semester hours in both Economics and Mathematics, with each course worth three semester hours. The required Economics courses include Introductory Microeconomics (1010), Introductory Macroeconomics (1020), Intermediate Microeconomics I and II (2030, 2050), Intermediate Macroeconomics I and II (2040, 2060), Economic Methodology (3030), and Introduction to Econometrics (3080). Additionally, students must take six elective Economics courses, with at least three at the 3000 or 4000 level. In Mathematics, students must complete Finite Mathematics (1110) and Single Variable Calculus I (1910), and for Statistics, Introduction to Probability and Statistics (1910) is required. Students planning to pursue graduate studies in Economics are advised to consult with the department and include specific advanced courses among their electives, such as Mathematical Economics (3070), Econometrics II (4130), Advanced Microeconomics (4030), and Macroeconomics (4040). They are also encouraged to take additional Mathematics courses like Single Variable Calculus II (1920) and Linear Algebra (2610) to strengthen their mathematical foundation, which is beneficial for graduate-level work and deeper understanding of economic theory and quantitative methods. Careful course planning is essential for meeting both undergraduate requirements and future academic goals.
