COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Laws (LLM) program offers students the choice between a thesis option and a research paper option, allowing flexibility in how they pursue their advanced legal studies. While students can explore any subject area, the program places particular emphasis on two key fields: international law and human rights law. These areas reflect the faculty’s commitment to addressing global legal challenges and promoting justice. For those opting for the research paper route, the program offers eight specialized concentrations that enable students to tailor their studies to their interests and career goals. These concentrations include Global Sustainability and Environmental Law, focusing on legal issues related to environmental protection and sustainable development; Health Law, Policy and Ethics, which addresses legal matters surrounding healthcare systems and bioethics; and International Humanitarian and Security Law, dealing with laws of armed conflict and global security issues. Other concentrations include International Trade and Investment Law, exploring cross-border commerce and economic relations; Law and Social Justice, emphasizing equality and human rights; Law and Technology, examining the impact of technological advances on the legal system; Legislative Studies, which focuses on the process and principles of lawmaking; and Notarial Law, which covers legal practices related to document certification and transactions. Additionally, LLM students can engage in an interdisciplinary collaborative program specializing in Women’s Studies, further broadening their academic and professional perspectives. Overall, the Master’s program is designed to provide rigorous, research-focused legal education, equipping graduates with the expertise needed to navigate and influence various legal fields, while supporting a broad and inclusive approach to the study of law in a bilingual and bijuridical environment.
