COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Applied Science in Computer Engineering program is structured to deliver a robust education in both hardware and software aspects of computing. In the first year, students are introduced to foundational subjects including calculus, linear algebra, chemistry, physics, discrete mathematics, and basic computing principles through courses such as Digital Systems I, Fundamentals of Engineering Computation, and Introduction to Computing II. The second year builds on this with a deeper dive into core subjects like computer architecture, electronics, circuit theory, and software engineering. Courses such as Data Structures and Algorithms, Probability and Statistics for Engineers, and Technical Report Writing equip students with essential analytical and communication skills. In the third year, students gain specialized knowledge through advanced courses like Digital Systems II, Computer Systems Design, and Operating Systems. They also study signal processing, control systems, and networking. Students choose one course from a list including technology and society or software construction to enhance their critical thinking. The final year emphasizes real-time systems and advanced computer architecture, culminating in a two-part Capstone Design Project that challenges students to solve real-world problems. Students also take science electives and select from a range of technical electives to tailor their interests. With a total of 129 units, this comprehensive four-year program prepares graduates for careers in embedded systems, hardware design, real-time systems, robotics, and other dynamic fields in computer engineering.
