COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science (BSc) program includes foundational courses in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics. Key introductory courses include Introductory Biology I (BIOL 103-3), Introductory Biology II (BIOL 104-3), General Chemistry I (CHEM 100-3), General Chemistry II (CHEM 101-3), and a selection of Calculus and Statistics courses, such as Calculus for Non-majors (MATH 152-3) and Basic Statistics (STAT 240-3). For physics, students can choose between Physics for Life Sciences I (PHYS 100-4) or Introductory Physics I: Mechanics (PHYS 110-4) and their corresponding follow-up courses. Students are also required to complete 18 upper-division credit hours within two Areas of Specialization, such as Biology, Ecology, and Biochemistry or Computer Science, with eligible courses including Intermediary Metabolism (BCMB 306-3), Physical Biochemistry (BCMB 340-3), Molecular Cell Physiology (BIOL 312-3), and Computer Programming (CPSC 100-4). Other Areas of Specialization include Environmental and Earth Sciences, offering courses like Environmental Impact Assessment (ENPL 305-3), Watershed Management (NREM 410-3), and Fluvial Geomorphology (GEOG 405-3), and Geography (Science) and GIS with courses such as Intermediate GIS (GEOG 300-3) and Advanced GIS (GEOG 413-3). Students can also choose from the Mathematics and Statistics, Natural Resources and Forestry, and Physics specializations. In addition to these core and specialized courses, students are required to complete elective courses to meet the 120 credit hour minimum for graduation, including necessary credits for the Academic Breadth requirement. For students in the BSc (Integrated) Coast Mountain College Degree Completion Program, the program includes courses like Environmental and Professional Ethics (ENVS 414-3) and Professional Writing (NRES 421-1), with specializations in Biology, Ecology, and Biochemistry and Environmental and Earth Sciences, offering in-depth courses such as Limnology (BIOL 302-3) and Environmental Impact Assessment (ENPL 305-3).
