COURSE CURRICULUM

UNB’s Chemical Engineering graduate program offers a diverse selection of courses that reflect the department’s expertise in process systems, energy, environment, materials, and biotechnology. Students can explore topics such as process design and simulation, oil and gas processing, enhanced oil recovery, and oil sands technology, gaining practical skills in modeling and industry-relevant extraction techniques. Courses like re-engineering waste, energy and environment, and air pollution control address sustainability and environmental impact. The program also includes specialized offerings in bioseparations, polymer materials, and catalytic reaction engineering. Advanced materials and nanotechnology are covered through courses in nanoparticle engineering, surface characterization, and nanotechnology applications. A strong nuclear engineering stream includes reactor chemistry and corrosion, nuclear safety and reliability, and nuclear reactor physics. Students interested in the pulp and paper sector can study pulp production, papermaking, and biorefining. Opportunities for hands-on learning are integrated through lab-based and industrial-focused courses such as practice school and directed learning, providing students with technical and research experience aligned with current industry demands.
