COURSE CURRICULUM

The Biomedical Engineering (MSc) program at the University of Manitoba offers a range of interdisciplinary courses designed to provide students with a solid foundation in both engineering principles and biomedical applications. Core courses include BME 7012: Foundation of Physiology, which introduces students to essential human physiology relevant to biomedical applications, and BME 7022: Biomedical Instrumentation, which explores the design and function of medical instruments used in diagnostics and therapy. BME 7024: Basics of Electromagnetic covers electromagnetic theory with applications in medical imaging and device design, while BME 7026: Basics of Biological Signal Analysis teaches students how to acquire, process, and interpret signals such as ECG and EEG. BME 7028: Basics of Biomechanics focuses on the mechanical principles of biological systems, offering insights into movement, forces, and material properties of tissues. Complementing the technical focus, BME 7040: Biomedical Ethics addresses the ethical considerations involved in biomedical research, clinical trials, and the development of healthcare technologies.
