COURSE CURRICULUM

The Landscape Architecture program offers a comprehensive range of courses designed to equip students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential for the profession. Foundational courses such as Ecology + Design, Site Morphology + Grading, and Plant Ecosystems + Design introduce students to ecological principles and landscape dynamics. Philosophy, Ethics + Aesthetics and History of Landscape + Urbanism provide critical context on the cultural and ethical aspects of landscape architecture. Advanced courses like Design Research, Landscape Architecture History + Theory, and Digital Mapping + Analytics develop research and technical competencies. Studio courses, including Studio 1 through Studio 4, form the core of the hands-on learning experience, allowing students to apply their skills in progressively complex design projects. Additionally, LA Construction focuses on the practical aspects of building and implementing designs. The program also offers a Cooperative Education/Integrated Work (Co-op/I) graduate option, requiring students to complete two 10-week work terms. These placements provide valuable professional experience and require submission of detailed reports and portfolios, enhancing practical skills beyond academic requirements.
