COURSE CURRICULUM

Master of Dentistry in Periodontics program, students must fulfill several key requirements. The program includes 58 credit hours of coursework designed to provide comprehensive knowledge in periodontology and related fields. Clinical experience is a critical component, requiring students to accumulate a minimum of 1,200 hours, including approximately 100 hours in the hospital dental clinic, ensuring hands-on exposure to diverse patient cases. Additionally, students must submit a capstone project, which can be an essay or a research project, to demonstrate their ability to integrate and apply their learning.Coursework covers a wide range of topics essential to periodontics and implant dentistry. Key courses include DDSS 7010: Biology and Pathology of the Periodontium (6 credit hours), DDSS 7030: Advanced Oral Radiology (1 credit hour), and DDSS 7050: Oral Medicine and Oral Diagnosis (3 credit hours). Clinical skills are developed through DDSS 7120: Advanced Clinical Periodontics (4 credit hours) and DDSS 7210: Clinical Practice in Periodontics (18 credit hours).
