COURSE CURRICULUM

The Nurse Practitioner program offers a comprehensive education focusing on pharmacology, advanced health assessment, evidence-informed practice, and leadership. The curriculum combines theory courses that address health promotion, wellness strategies, and the management of episodic, acute, and chronic illnesses. These theoretical components are reinforced through hands-on labs, case studies, simulations, and objective structured clinical examinations, providing a balanced blend of knowledge and practical skills. The program is course-based and non-thesis, requiring the completion of 45 credit hours alongside more than 700 clinical hours. This includes a significant final clinical consolidation of 400 hours to ensure readiness for autonomous practice. Clinical placements are arranged across a variety of healthcare settings throughout Manitoba, covering both rural and urban communities. During these placements, students work closely with experienced nurse practitioners and physicians, gaining valuable real-world experience. The program also offers financial support for rural placements and accommodations in accordance with established policies and funding availability. This practical, immersive approach equips graduates with the skills and confidence necessary to provide holistic, patient-centered care as nurse practitioners in diverse healthcare environments.
