COURSE CURRICULUM

Music Research (MA) program include a range of advanced seminars and specialized courses designed to deepen students' understanding of musicology and music theory. MUSC 7050: Bibliography and Research Methods introduces essential tools for scholarly inquiry, helping students develop strong research skills and critical evaluation techniques. MUSC 7100: Proseminar Musicology and MUSC 7120: Seminar in Musicology provide opportunities to engage with key historical and cultural aspects of music, fostering analytical and interpretive skills. MUSC 7130: Seminar in Ethnomusicology explores the diverse musical traditions of the world, encouraging students to examine music within its social and cultural contexts. On the theory side, MUSC 7200: Proseminar in Music Theory and MUSC 7210: Seminar in Music Theory/Analysis offer advanced study in music structure, form, and analysis, emphasizing rigorous theoretical frameworks. MUSC 7240: Music Theory Pedagogy focuses on effective teaching methods in music theory, preparing students for educational roles.
