COURSE CURRICULUM

All students enrolled in the thesis-based Master of Laws (LLM) program are required to complete several foundational components designed to support rigorous academic research and integrity. These include the Research Integrity Tutorial (GRAD 7300) and the Academic Integrity Tutorial (GRAD 7500), which ensure students understand ethical standards in research. Additionally, students must take the Graduate Seminar: Legal Research & Theory (LAW 7112) to develop advanced legal research and theoretical skills. Beyond these requirements, thesis-based students choose two elective courses to deepen their knowledge in specific legal areas. The program culminates in the completion of a major written research thesis (GRAD 7000), where students contribute original scholarship under faculty supervision.In contrast, students in the course-based LLM program also complete the Research Integrity Tutorial (GRAD 7300), Academic Integrity Tutorial (GRAD 7500), and Graduate Seminar: Legal Research & Theory (LAW 7112). However, instead of a thesis, they complete a Capstone Seminar (LAW 7002) designed to integrate and apply their legal learning. Course-based students must complete 18 credit hours of electives, allowing for a broad and intensive legal education tailored to their interests and career goals. Both paths emphasize academic integrity, research skills, and flexible coursework to prepare students for diverse legal careers.
