COURSE CURRICULUM

The Animal Systems (BSc) program at the University of Manitoba offers a variety of courses that provide students with a strong foundation in animal health, biology, and management. Core courses such as ANSC 2510: Anatomy and Physiology 1: Control Systems and ANSC 2520: Anatomy and Physiology 2: Nutrient Utilization cover the fundamental biological systems essential for understanding animal function and health. ANSC 3510: Feeds and Feeding focuses on animal nutrition, while ANSC 3500: Principles of Animal Genetics explores genetic principles and their application to breeding and animal improvement. Reproduction is covered in ANSC 3520: Animal Reproduction, which teaches the physiological processes involved in breeding and fertility management. ANSC 4410: Grassland Agriculture: Plant, Animal and Environment examines the interaction between animals and their ecosystems, highlighting sustainable management practices. Students also learn about pest management in ANTM 3160: Veterinary and Wildlife Entomology. Behavior is studied in ANSC 4510: Domesticated Animal Behaviour, providing insights into animal welfare and handling.
