COURSE CURRICULUM

The Athletic Therapy program includes a variety of courses designed to provide students with a strong foundation in human anatomy, nutrition, trauma care, and sports medicine. Core courses such as BIOL 1410: Anatomy of the Human Body and HNSC 1210: Nutrition for Health and Changing Lifestyles equip students with essential knowledge of the human body and the role of nutrition in health. Practical skills are developed through courses like KIN 2200: Basic Trauma and Life Support and KIN 2750: Athletic Therapy Skills, which prepare students to respond to injuries and emergencies effectively. Understanding the psychological and motor aspects of physical activity is covered in courses such as KPER 2540: Psychology of Sport and Physical Activity and KPER 2700: Motor Control and Learning, helping students appreciate the mental and physical processes involved in athletic performance and rehabilitation. The program also includes studies in fitness and aging through courses like KPER 3512: Principles of Fitness Training and KIN 3510: Physical Activity and Aging. Advanced knowledge in sports medicine and pathology is gained in KIN 4160: Advanced Pathology and Sport Medicine. Additionally, courses like KPER 2170: History of Physical Activity and Leisure and KPER 4020: Philosophy of Physical Activity and Leisure provide broader context to the field.
