COURSE CURRICULUM

The Environmental Science program offers a diverse range of courses that provide students with a comprehensive understanding of environmental concepts, issues, and scientific methods. Foundational courses such as Environmental Science 1 – Concepts (ENVR 1000) and Environmental Science 2 – Issues (ENVR 2000) introduce students to key topics and current challenges in the field. Biology courses, including Biology 2: Biological Diversity, Function and Interactions (BIOL 1030) and Principles of Ecology (BIOL 2300), explore the interactions within ecosystems and the importance of biodiversity. Students also develop essential quantitative skills through courses like Introduction to Calculus (MATH 1500) and Basic Statistical Analysis 2 (STAT 2000), which support data analysis in environmental research. The program includes interdisciplinary courses such as Introduction to Microeconomic Principles (ECON 1010) to understand economic impacts on environmental decisions. Critical thinking and research skills are emphasized in courses like Environmental Critical Thinking and Scientific Research (ENVR 2810) and Critical Thinking and the Environment (ENVR 4110). Additionally, Environmental Responsibilities and the Law (ENVR 3160) addresses the legal frameworks surrounding environmental protection. Physics fundamentals are covered in General Physics 1 (PHYS 1020), supporting the scientific foundation of the program.
