COURSE CURRICULUM

The Environmental Design (BEnvD) program offers a diverse selection of courses across foundational and specialized areas, equipping students with the skills and knowledge needed for careers in architecture, interior environments, and landscape and urbanism. In the foundation years (Years 1 and 2), students complete core courses such as Visual Literacy, History of Culture, Ideas and Environment, Environmental Technology, Ecology and Design, and Design Studio, which lay the groundwork for advanced design thinking and environmental understanding. In the Architecture Option (Years 3 and 4), students take courses like Architectural Technology, Architectural History and Theory, and Architecture Design Studios, which develop advanced technical, theoretical, and studio-based design skills. The Interior Environments Option includes focused courses such as Interior Light and Colour, Human Factors, and Advanced Interior Design Media, emphasizing the relationship between people and interior space. The Landscape and Urbanism Option features courses like Site Planning, Ecology and Design 2, and Emergent Futures Studio, integrating ecological systems with urban infrastructure and design. Each option culminates in studio-based learning, ensuring students graduate with practical experience and a well-rounded education. These options prepare students for entry into graduate-level professional programs or careers in their chosen fields.
