COURSE CURRICULUM

The Women’s and Gender Studies program offers a diverse range of courses that explore critical issues related to gender, race, class, and social justice from interdisciplinary perspectives. Students can take courses such as Indigenous Women’s Stories (WOMN 2430), which highlights the experiences and narratives of Indigenous women, providing valuable cultural and historical insights. Race, Class and Sexuality (WOMN 2500) examines how these social categories intersect and influence individual and group experiences. Other courses like Women, Science and Technology (WOMN 2560) explore the role of gender in shaping scientific and technological fields, while Sex Work in Contemporary Canadian Culture (WOMN 3100) addresses the complexities surrounding sex work in today’s society. Feminist Perspectives on Violence Against Women (WOMN 3560) focuses on understanding and addressing gender-based violence. The program also includes cross-cultural perspectives, such as Women in Cross-Cultural Perspectives (ANTH 3320) and Women in Ancient Greece and Rome (CLAS 2210), broadening students’ understanding of gender roles across different societies and historical periods. Additionally, courses like Economics of Gender (ECON 2362) and Gender History in Canada (HIST 4060) provide insights into the economic and historical dimensions of gender.
