COURSE CURRICULUM

The Ukrainian program offers a rich selection of courses designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of Ukrainian language, culture, history, and society. Beginning with language acquisition, students take courses such as UKRN 1312: Introductory Ukrainian I to build foundational skills. The curriculum extends beyond language to cover cultural and historical topics, including UKRN 2410: Ukrainian Canadian Cultural Experience, which explores the contributions and experiences of Ukrainians in Canada, and UKRN 2780: Ukrainian Culture from 1900 to the Present, offering insights into modern cultural developments. Interdisciplinary courses enhance this understanding, such as ECON 2510: The Economy of Ukraine, which examines Ukraine’s economic landscape, and FAAH 3280: Early Byzantine Art and Architecture, providing historical context for Eastern European art influences. Geography and political science are also included with GEOG 2900: Geography of Canadian Prairie Landscapes and POLS 3720: Politics, Government and Society in Ukraine, broadening students’ perspectives on regional and political issues.
