Beginning with introductory courses such as Introductory French 1 and 2 (FREN 1152 and 1154) and Intermediate French 1 and 2 (FREN 1202 and 1204), students build a solid foundation in French language proficiency. Oral communication is emphasized through courses like Français oral 1 (FREN 1252), helping students gain confidence in speaking. Grammar-focused courses such as La grammaire au bureau (FREN 2022) and Révision intensive de la grammaire français (FREN 3020) enhance language accuracy and professional communication skills. Literature and culture are explored in courses like Poésie et théâtre canadiens-français (FREN 2700), Roman français du vingtième siècle (FREN 2720), and Littératures du Canada francophone contemporain (FREN 3170), which cover a variety of literary periods and regional perspectives. The program also includes unique offerings like Le cinéma africain (FREN 2820), providing insight into African Francophone film. Advanced students can engage in research through Initiation à la recherche (FREN 4426), which prepares them for scholarly work.
