The Central and East European Studies program offers a diverse range of courses that explore the region’s rich cultural, historical, and political landscape. Students can study European archaeology through ANTH 2060, gaining insights into ancient civilizations. ECON 2510 focuses on the economy of Ukraine, providing an understanding of contemporary financial systems. The program includes art history with FAAH 3280, covering Early Byzantine Art and Architecture, while GRMN 2510 examines German fairy tales and their cultural impact. HIST 2240 explores the history of antisemitism and the Holocaust, offering critical historical perspectives. POL 1900 delves into themes of love, heroes, and patriotism in contemporary Poland, and POLS 3810 introduces students to Marxist theory. Religious studies are represented by RLGN 3280, focusing on Hasidism, while literature courses such as RUSN 2410 and UKRN 2770 explore Russian literature after Stalin and Ukrainian culture until 1900, respectively. YDSH 2320 offers an extensive study of Yiddish literature and language.
