COURSE CURRICULUM

The Neuroscience graduate program offers advanced training in brain, behaviour, and cognitive science through a combination of coursework, seminars, and research-focused learning. Students engage with contemporary topics in neuroscience and psychology, including experimental methods, research communication, and the development of scientific presentations such as talks and posters. Core and elective courses span a wide range of specialized areas, including cortical function, computational neuroscience, and bioinformatics, providing both theoretical foundations and practical analytical skills. Key courses such as Neuroscience 5025 and 7025 focus on contemporary problems in brain and behaviour, while computational and data-driven courses train students in programming, data analysis, and omics-based research. Bioinformatics courses introduce students to genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic data analysis, along with programming tools and ethical considerations in modern biological research. A series of interdisciplinary seminar courses, Neuroscience 5901–5904 (MSc) and 7901–7904 (PhD), emphasize research dialogue, collaboration, and active participation in academic discussions across disciplines. These seminars help students refine research questions and improve communication skills in a scholarly environment. Overall, the program integrates experimental, computational, and theoretical approaches to neuroscience, preparing students for advanced research careers.
