COURSE CURRICULUM

The Department of Kinesiology & Physical Education at the University of Lethbridge promotes the study of human movement through a multidisciplinary approach that integrates diverse perspectives on physical activity, health, and performance. The Master of Science in this area is designed to provide students with advanced academic training and research experience in kinesiology, allowing them to explore human movement from biological, psychological, social, and cultural viewpoints. Students are required to complete between two and six graduate-level courses as part of their program, with the specific course plan developed in consultation with their academic supervisor to ensure alignment with their research interests and thesis objectives. A core requirement of the program is a series of interdisciplinary seminars, Kinesiology 5901 to 5904, titled Interdisciplinary Research Dialogues I to IV, each carrying 0.75 credit hours. These seminars are intended to foster collaboration, critical discussion, and engagement with diverse research perspectives across the field of kinesiology. In addition to these required seminars, students may take other graduate-level courses that support their specialized area of study. The program emphasizes individualized academic planning and close supervisory guidance, ensuring that coursework complements the student’s research development.
