COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Arts in Kinesiology requires students to complete three to six graduate-level term courses, or the equivalent of 9.0 to 18.0 credit hours, in consultation with their academic supervisors. The program is structured to provide both flexibility and focused academic training, allowing students to design a course plan that aligns with their research interests and thesis objectives. A key component of the curriculum is a series of required interdisciplinary seminars known as Kinesiology 5901 to 5904, titled Interdisciplinary Research Dialogues I to IV, each valued at 0.75 credit hours. These courses are designed to encourage collaboration, critical thinking, and engagement across different areas of kinesiology and related disciplines. Through these seminars, students participate in ongoing academic discussions, share research ideas, and develop a deeper understanding of interdisciplinary approaches to studying human movement, physical activity, and health. In addition to these required courses, students may select other graduate-level courses to build specialized knowledge relevant to their thesis research. The program emphasizes close supervision and individualized academic planning, ensuring that each student’s coursework supports their research goals. Overall, the MA in Kinesiology combines structured interdisciplinary learning with independent research, preparing students for advanced scholarly work and careers in areas related to health, sport, exercise science, and human performance.
