COURSE CURRICULUM

The Remote Sensing program includes a diverse set of courses that combine geography, physics, and environmental science to help students understand and analyze the Earth through advanced imaging technologies. Foundational science courses such as Introduction to Physics I, II, and III and Waves, Optics & Sound provide the essential physical principles behind electromagnetic radiation, energy, and wave behaviour, which are critical for interpreting satellite and aerial imagery. Geography-focused courses like Weather & Climate and Geomorphology help students understand Earth’s atmospheric systems, landforms, and environmental processes, forming the basis for analyzing natural patterns and changes on the planet’s surface. Core discipline-specific courses such as Remote Sensing and Physics of Remote Sensing introduce students to the technologies, instruments, and scientific principles used to collect and interpret digital images of the Earth and other environments. These courses emphasize how satellite data is captured, processed, and applied to real-world issues such as climate change, land use, and environmental monitoring. Additionally, Geographical Data & Analysis equips students with skills in handling spatial data, mapping, and using specialized software to interpret geospatial information. Together, these courses provide a strong interdisciplinary foundation that blends theory with practical, hands-on learning. Students gain technical expertise in both physical science and geographic analysis, preparing them for careers in environmental monitoring, geospatial technology, and Earth observation research.
