COURSE CURRICULUM

The Kinesiology program offers a comprehensive sequence of courses designed to study human movement from biological, psychological, and social perspectives. In the first year, students begin with foundational courses such as Kinesiology 1000: Wellness and Physical Activity, which introduces overall wellness concepts and the role of physical activity in health. They also take core science-based courses like Kinesiology 1160 and 1161, which cover human anatomy and physiology, providing essential knowledge of body systems. As students progress into second year, they explore interdisciplinary areas including Kinesiology 2110 (biophysical perspectives), 2130 (humanities perspectives), 2140 (psychological perspectives), 2150 (sociological perspectives), and 2160 (management perspectives), offering a broad understanding of sport and physical activity from multiple angles. Research skills are developed through Kinesiology 2200, while courses like functional anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics deepen scientific understanding. In later years, students specialize through advanced courses such as exercise physiology, biomechanics, sport psychology, motor control, nutrition, injury care, and therapeutic exercise. Senior-level courses also include applied topics like ergonomics, aging and physical activity, ethics in sport, and advanced laboratory methods. The program culminates in capstone experiences such as interdisciplinary seminars and optional undergraduate thesis work. Overall, these sample courses show a structured progression from basic health knowledge to advanced scientific, applied, and research-based study of human movement and performance.
