COURSE CURRICULUM

The B.F.A. in New Media offers a comprehensive and practice-based curriculum that equips students with a wide range of creative, technical, and conceptual skills across digital media fields. Students engage in hands-on learning in areas such as graphic design, animation, video production, game design, interactive media, web development, and 3D modelling, while also developing strong foundations in storytelling, coding, and critical theory. Early courses like Introduction to New Media Practices, Animation, and Design Foundations emphasize experimentation and skill-building, while intermediate courses such as Programming Foundations, Game Design Foundations, and Digital Drawing and Animation deepen technical expertise and creative exploration. As students progress, they explore specialized subjects including Visual Effects, Character Animation, Mobile App Development, and Networked Media, allowing them to tailor their studies to specific interests. Advanced courses focus on professional development, critical thinking, and industry preparation through internships, practicum experiences, and portfolio development. In upper years, students may pursue screenwriting, advanced web design, motion capture, or AI and identity studies, culminating in a capstone project or thesis. Throughout the program, students build a strong portfolio and gain real-world experience through exhibitions, collaborative projects, and internships, preparing them for careers in creative industries or further academic study in new media fields.
