COURSE CURRICULUM

The Philosophy, Politics and Law (PPL) program includes a structured set of courses designed to build strong interdisciplinary knowledge in critical thinking, governance, ethics, and legal studies. Students complete 21 courses in the major, beginning with core classes that introduce essential skills and foundational concepts. These include Critical Thinking, which develops logical reasoning and argument analysis, and Social and Political Philosophy, which explores key ideas about justice, rights, and political authority. Students also take Canadian Politics and Government to understand national political institutions and processes, along with Introduction to Indigenous Governance, which highlights Indigenous political systems and perspectives. Philosophy of Law examines the relationship between law, morality, and justice, while Canadian Indigenous Project Management focuses on applied skills for working with Indigenous communities and projects. In the final year, students complete a Capstone: Reflections on Philosophy, Politics and Law, where they integrate knowledge from across the program to analyze real-world issues in depth. Alongside these core requirements, students choose additional courses from Indigenous studies, political science, and philosophy to broaden their understanding of social and political systems. They also select stream-specific electives based on their chosen focus area, such as Environment, Health, Business and Economics, or Social Justice, allowing them to tailor their studies to specific academic interests and career goals.
