COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts in Archaeology and Geography focuses on understanding human history and cultural development through the study of archaeological evidence and geographical contexts. This program emphasizes a cultural and interpretive approach, integrating related disciplines such as history and anthropology to provide a broad understanding of past societies. Students learn how ancient communities lived, interacted, and adapted to their environments by analyzing artifacts, landscapes, and spatial patterns. The curriculum combines theoretical knowledge with practical field and laboratory experience, helping students develop strong research and analytical skills. Sample courses include Old World Archaeology, which explores ancient civilizations and their cultural development; Archaeological Field Work (Series), which provides hands-on experience in excavation and field methods; and Geoarchaeology and Landscape Analysis, which studies the relationship between human activity and natural landscapes over time. Archaeological Materials Analysis focuses on examining artifacts to understand their composition and historical significance. In addition, Geomorphology introduces the study of landforms and Earth processes, while Geographical Data and Analysis develops skills in interpreting spatial information. Introduction to Geographical Information Science (GIS) teaches modern digital tools used for mapping and spatial analysis. Together, these courses prepare students to investigate historical and environmental questions using both scientific techniques and cultural interpretation, equipping them for careers in research, heritage management, and related fields.
