COURSE CURRICULUM

The Theatre program at UFV is located on the Abbotsford campus and offers a comprehensive 60-credit diploma that immerses students in various aspects of theatre and performance. The curriculum includes foundational courses such as Experiencing Theatre and Performance, Reading and Writing About Drama, and Technical Theatre, with options like Technical Theatre I or II and Introduction to Technical Production. Students gain practical experience through the Theatre Production Practicum and choose from performance-focused courses such as Performance Skills for Work and Life, Acting Fundamentals, or Storytelling. In addition to core theatre courses, students select 21 credits from other THEA offerings, ensuring a broad and in-depth theatre education. The program also incorporates 6 credits from related creative disciplines like Art History, Film, Media Arts, Sociology, Visual Arts, or creative writing courses in English, enriching students’ artistic and critical perspectives. To complete the diploma, students take 15 additional credits from any subject area, allowing for academic flexibility and the opportunity to tailor studies to individual interests. This structure supports the development of practical skills, artistic expression, and academic knowledge, preparing graduates for further study or careers in theatre and related fields within a supportive and resource-rich environment.
