COURSE CURRICULUM

The Graphic and Digital Design diploma at UFV is a 60-credit program that includes a comprehensive range of courses designed to build foundational skills, historical knowledge, and creative practice. The foundation courses cover essential skills such as typography (GD 154), digital design media (GD 157 and GD 159), and drawing (VA 113 or VA 225), along with applied photography and video (GD 281) and print and digital production (GD 316). Students also explore the history and writing aspects of design through courses like History of Posters (AH 203) or History of Graphic Design (GD 102), and professional communication (CMNS 125) or academic writing (ENGL 105). The creative practice section focuses on core design principles and interactive media, including Fundamentals of Design (GD 101), Interactive Design (GD 202 and GD 204 or CIS 145), motion graphics (GD 203), and illustration (GD 216). Advanced courses such as Design Inquiry: Ethos (GD 222), Graphic and Digital Design I and II (GD 260 and GD 317), and Interactive Design for Portfolio (GD 358) further develop practical skills. Brand identity courses (GD 374 or BUS 120) and specialized electives like Typography II (GD 254), Dynamic Media II (GD 303), User Experience Design (GD 304), and Brand Identity II (GD 375) complete the curriculum.
