COURSE CURRICULUM

The Psychology major at UFV requires the completion of 19 lower-level and 30 upper-level credits, offering students a structured yet flexible path through foundational and advanced topics in psychology. At the lower level, students begin with PSYC 101 and PSYC 102, which introduce fundamental psychological concepts and principles. They also complete PSYC 110, focusing on applied statistical analysis in psychology, although STAT 104 or STAT 106 can be substituted. PSYC 202 covers research methods, essential for developing skills in experimental design and data analysis, with PSYC 210 accepted as a substitute if previously completed. To deepen their understanding, students choose two courses from PSYC 221 (Cognitive Psychology), PSYC 241 (Psychological Disorders), PSYC 250 (Lifespan Development), or PSYC 280 (Biological Psychology), with PSYC 220 accepted in place of one if applicable. At the upper level, students must complete PSYC 408, which explores the history and philosophical foundations of psychology, along with 27 additional upper-level PSYC credits. These advanced electives allow students to explore specialized areas such as neuropsychology, child development, health psychology, perception, memory, and more, helping them shape their academic focus and career goals. This balanced structure ensures both depth and breadth of knowledge in the field of psychology.
