COURSE CURRICULUM

The Economics major requires 28 to 29 credits at the lower level, including foundational courses such as Principles of Microeconomics (ECON 100) and Macroeconomics (ECON 101), along with essential quantitative skills through Statistics I (STAT 106) and Calculus I (MATH 111) or Calculus for Business (MATH 141). Students also take Introductory Financial Accounting (BUS 145 or BUS 143), Introduction to Finance (BUS 249), and Economics and Business Statistics (BUS 226/ECON 226) to build a strong interdisciplinary base. In addition to these required courses, students must complete six credits of 200-level Economics electives to deepen their understanding of economic principles. At the upper level, the program requires 30 credits, including key courses like Managerial Economics (ECON 307), Introductory Econometrics (ECON 326), Macroeconomics and Financial Markets (ECON 410), and Financial Management I (BUS 349/ECON 349). Alongside these core upper-level courses, students are expected to complete 18 credits of additional upper-level Economics electives, which may include advanced mathematics courses such as MATH 368, though this course is not offered regularly. This curriculum is designed to provide students with a robust mix of theoretical knowledge, analytical skills, and practical financial insights, preparing them for careers in economics, finance, business, and related fields.
