COURSE CURRICULUM

The University of the Fraser Valley’s Bachelor of Arts in Adult Education is a flexible, mid-career professional development program designed for adult educators or professionals looking to expand their knowledge and credentials in the field. Delivered primarily online, the program allows you to balance education with your existing personal and professional commitments. With options to study part-time or full-time, attend evening and Saturday classes, and even earn credit for prior learning or work experience, the program is tailored to suit busy adult learners.In the first half of the program, you complete foundational coursework in adult education and e-learning. You can accumulate up to 60 credits through a mix of UFV courses, previously completed transfer credits, and Prior Learning Assessment (PLA), which recognizes knowledge gained in non-traditional settings. This flexible approach to credit accumulation helps students accelerate their path to a degree based on their existing experience and background.Once you progress to upper-level coursework, the program shifts focus to more advanced areas such as adult education theory, instructional design, and elective courses that align with your specific interests or professional needs. Each course is designed to bridge theory and practice, incorporating real-world workplace experiences to enhance learning and practical application.Toward the end of the program, you complete three capstone courses that serve as a culmination of your studies. These courses give you the opportunity to integrate your learning, reflect on your professional growth, and explore specific areas of passion within the adult education field.
